Original Watercolour 4.1 x 5.8" (A6) - Summer in Gruissan, Aude, France - By Frances Marcellin

This postcard-size artwork (A6) was lovingly created by British artist and illustrator Frances Marcellin, who was a longlisted artist in this year's World Illustration Awards. 

It is a 105mm x 148mm (4.1 inches x 5.8 inches) collectable piece that comes unframed on 300gsm cold-pressed paper and created using watercolour, pen & ink and Derwent colour pencils. 

This piece is inspired by the chalets in Gruissan by the beach. Gruissan is a short drive away from the artist's home and she loves to visit as often as possible. The chalets became famous in the 1986 film "Betty Blue", or "37°2 le matin" in France, starring actress Béatrice Dalle, written and directed by Jean-Jacques Beineix and based on a novel by Philippe Djian. 

It is listed as no. 113, is signed on the back with details of the artwork and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Frances Marcellin is a British artist and illustrator based in the Tarn, southwest France. She lives with her French husband and four children in a countryside home overlooking a verdant valley, with views of the Montagne Noire and the Pyrenees. In this series, she paints her favourite local landscapes – those that inspire her the most – paying homage to the beauty and tranquility of the French countryside, which led her to move to France (from the UK) and build a life there.
